Kids and teens are more at risk now of mental health issues than ever before. Not only are there pressures from school, extra-curriculars, home, and social media, there is also the pressure that is self-imposed. Many are living in the regrets of the past or the worries of the future. Mindfulness allows us to just live life where it is happening – in the present moment. Practiced with self-compassion and loving kindness, mindfulness also increases our self-awareness and ability to self-regulate thoughts and feelings. The sooner our youth learns this life tool, the more calm, happiness, and peace they can bring to their lives.
